Advanced Sensor

Results:
We successfully developed a working prototype of the Advanced Sensor integrated building equipment communications system (IBECS) network component.

The objective of this task was to create an IBECS-ready sensor capable of measuring key environmental variables (occupancy, light level, and temperature). The multi-purpose sensor has an embedded microchip (Smart Battery Monitor chip from Dallas Semiconductor/MAXIM) that transmits these three data streams to the IBECS network.

Prototype workstation multisensor designed to measure desktop illuminance, temperature, and occupancy. This multisensor measures these three key environmental variables and outputs this digital data to the IBECS network. The multisensor is designed to be mounted near the primary work area and plugs into a port adapter that is attached to the serial port on the user's personal computer.
