Motivation / Problem Statement

Standalone tools reduce use of energy tools; use interoperable tools ( CAD → Energy) to address energy/comfort in all-glass building.

Activities / Approach

Create IFC- based BIM; link CAD and EnergyPlus; assist in Energy analysis with NREL and façade/daylighting optimization.

Accomplishments / Outcomes

Difficult CAD-EnergyPlus linkage; Project was redesigned; façade optimization now underway with new design.

Future / Follow-on

Improve CAD-EnergyPlus linkage with new middleware; complete façade/daylighting optimization studies.
