RESEM-CA: A Simulation Tool for Retrofit Analysis
Goal Statement:
To deliver an enhanced operational version of RESEM-CA. This enhanced version will include electric peak demand analysis,
a building templates database/generator, an advanced baselining/calibration process, increased automation, improved robustness
and Energy Conservation Measure (ECM) savings analysis routines.
Results:
We have further developed enhancements to the computational methods for ECM descriptions and resulting performance
characteristics: First costs, ECM life-cycle analysis, ranking and determination of optimal packages, utility rate
schedules, building prototype templates.
Additionally, we have completed a RESEM-CA validation STUDY which ran the tool side-by-side with DOE2.1E. The study shows
that RESEM-CA produces output that is mostly in favorable agreement with DOE2.1E results. However, the study also identified
some calculations that could be improved. A public report on the validation study will be released once an internal review
is completed.
A preliminary beta version, with a simple interactive interface is now in internal testing. Demonstrations and distribution
to beta users for feedback have not yet been scheduled.
