Low Energy Cooling Systems

Collage of various images associated with Low Energy Cooling Systems research including: stacked bar and line graphs, a schematic, a data table, and the exterior of a building.

Motivation / Problem Statement

Conventional cooling systems are energy intensive and responsible for a major part of peak demand, yet do not exploit regional climate conditions or cool spaces most effectively.

Activities / Approach

Develop ventilation models, assess performance of DV, evaporative cooling and chilled beams in different climates.

Accomplishments / Outcomes

System/climate analysis using DOE-2, DV and NV models developed for EnergyPlus, limited analysis with EnergyPlus.

Future / Follow-on

Comprehensive analysis with EnergyPlus?

Relationship to Other Projects
