Motivation / Problem Statement

Control system performance is critical to building performance, integration may be important for ZEB, current controls for different building systems are incompatible, no tools for controls design and testing.

Activities / Approach

Assess benefits of controls integration, build development/testing environment for control strategies and hardware based on EnergyPlus.

Future / Follow-on

Compare heuristic and optimal strategies, test in real buildings, incorporate in EnergyPlus.

Relationship to Other Projects

Pre-commissioning of SFFOB controls.
