Motivation / Problem Statement

Manual building geometry input hampers more wide spread use of EnergyPlus and other energy performance simulation tools.

Activities / Approach

Work with Graphisoft to create a new Geometry Simplification Tool (GST), development of IDF Generator → new tools will automate building geometry input directly from model based CAD.

Accomplishments / Outcomes

GST will be a free web download, IDF Generator will be bundled with EnergyPlus.

Future / Follow-on

Rigorous tests, link to EnergyPlus IFC HVAC interface.
