Motivation / Problem Statement

Develop and promote standards and tools for supporting building information management across the building life cycle.

Activities / Approach

Develop IFCtoIDF, Incorporate Performance Metrics objects in IFC, Chair IAI-NA Building Services Domain Committee, Chair ASHRAE TC1.5, Vice-Chair ASHRAE GPC-20, Past Chair NIBS FIC.

Accomplishments / Outcomes

CAD to EnergyPlus transformation tool, IFC includes Performance Metrics object classes, ASHRAE research support for interoperability through BIM, numerous publications and presentations.

Future / Follow-on

Continuing development of CAD to EnergyPlus, continuing involvement of ASHRAE in promoting interoperability.
