Self Correct

Automated Fault Correction

Introduction

A fault detection and diagnostics (FDD) tool is a type of energy management and information system that continuously identifies the presence of faults and efficiency improvement opportunities by analyzing operational trend log data.

Although FDD tools can automatically identify the presence of faults, people must always take action to resolve those faults. This requires precious staff time, and can result in delay or inaction, and missed savings. A subset of faults, however, can be corrected automatically, without a physical ‘wrench turn’, eliminating the need for staff intervention.

In this work, we are partnering with leading FDD technology providers and building owners to develop and deploy new capability to find and fix control problems as they arise. We are also extending these solutions to deliver automated functional testing and demand flexibility.
