Green Light New York Releases Living Lab RFI

January 8, 2014

Green Light New York and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have partnered to develop a pair of "Living Lab" demonstration projects that will deploy innovative lighting, daylighting and shading systems in working New York City office spaces. The team has secured the participation of two Fortune 100 companies, each of which have committed to using an individual floor of their flagship NYC buildings as test beds for high performance systems. The project will include significant monitoring and analysis of the systems for a minimum of one year. Based on data collected and lessons learned over the course of the project the team will develop educational resources for the broader design, construction and real estate sectors, including case studies, symposium, exhibitions and training. The project is a unique opportunity to transform the performance and cost expectations of advanced lighting and daylighting retrofit solutions.

The first major step in this process is a Request For Information regarding technology to be considered for deployment in the demonstration spaces. The RFI package includes submittal instructions as well as performance guidelines for lighting, daylighting, shading and controls.

Responses are due January 20th, 2014 in the form of short Pre-Proposals.

The team will review these Pre-Proposals and the host sites will invite selected applicants to submit more information to determine which technologies will be deployed in the Living Lab demonstration spaces.
