Registration Open for BEST Building Efficiency Conference

December 13, 2021

A three-day national event will convene building efficiency experts to discuss building decarbonization and sustainability challenges and innovative solutions to pursue.

The annual institute, “Building Technician Education in a Time of Challenges and Innovation,” takes place January 5 to 7, 2022, and is co-hosted by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and the Building Efficiency for a Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Center. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the BEST Center supports publicly funded 2- and 4-year colleges and industry partners to advance educational programs in building operations, building automation and energy management.

This year, the BEST Center Annual Institute will highlight legislative and international efforts; innovations in the field of energy efficiency and building automation systems; and strategies and opportunities for educators and industry. Participants also will learn about education and technology at the intersection of sustainability, energy conservation, clean energy, and healthy building operations.

Speakers from Berkeley Lab’s Building Technology and Urban Systems Division will include Mary Ann Piette, Jessica Granderson, Cindy Regnier, Jared Langevin, Ronnen Levinson, Iain Walker, Marco Pritoni, Armando Casilllas and Eliot Crowe. Other Berkeley Lab speakers include Jennifer Holm, Nihar Shah, Spencer Dutton, John Elliott and Raphael Vitti.

This free, online event is open to the public. College educators and students in building science, HVAC, energy management, and building automation programs; teachers of high school physics, technical, and engineering courses; and building engineers, technicians, and facilities managers are encouraged to attend.
