Minda Ma
Dr. Minda Ma is an affiliate faculty in Building Technology & Urban Systems Division, Energy Technologies Area, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and his research interests focus on Building Energy, Building Decarbonization, Building Electrification, Power Decarbonization, EV Household Charging, etc.
Dr. Ma has been conducting postdoctoral research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) since September 2022. Prior to joining LBNL, he held the position of Shuimu Tsinghua Scholar (Senior Postdoctoral Fellow) at Tsinghua University from 2020 to 2022. His collaboration with Tsinghua University concluded in July 2022. Furthermore, he has been recognized as a World's Top 2% Scientist by Stanford University in 2023 & 2024, and a Highly Cited Researcher by Elsevier for five consecutive years: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
At Berkeley Lab, Dr. Ma is currently at the helm of the Global Building Emissions (GLOBE) Database, a multi-regional dataset that aims to monitor energy trends, emissions mitigation, and building stock on a global scale. Some of GLOBE's noteworthy applications have been featured in international journals like Cell Reports Sustainability (2024, Annual Research Highlight of Cell Reports Sus), Nexus - A Cell Partner Journal (2024, Journal Cover Paper and the Highly Cited Paper Awards of Nexus), Advances in Applied Energy (2023, Highly Cited Paper Awards of ADAPEN), Resources, Conservation and Recycling (2022), Applied Energy (2020, 2021, 2022, Apr 2023, Jun 2023, Sep 2023, Mar 2024, Jan 2025, Feb 2025, Mar 2025), Sustainable Cities and Society (2023), and Energy Conversion and Management (2024).
Dr. Ma currently holds the position of assistant editor of Advances in Applied Energy (JCR Q1), young editorial members for NEXUS, Advances in Applied Energy (JCR Q1), Applied Energy (JCR Q1) and Petroleum Science (JCR Q1). Additionally, he serves as an associate editor or section editor for international journals like Buildings (JCR Q2). In the capacity of a session chair, he has organized the international conferences like NEXUS Forum 2025, Applied Energy ICAE 2024, CUE2020, CUE2021, CUE 2022, CUE2023, and CUE2024 over the past five years.
