Berkeley Lab Organized an Urban Science Workshop

The Urban Systems Group at Berkeley Lab was official established on September 24, 2018, when a urban science workshop was conducted at Berkeley Lab. The workshop aims to integrate and expand urban science research through feedback on current activities and identification of strategic collaborations and opportunities. This multi-stakeholder workshop includes:

  • Technical report out on the three-year Laboratory Directed Research and Development project: Urban Integrated Systems
  • Comprehensive set of presentations on urban science activities at Berkeley Lab and University of California Berkeley (UCB) to collectively understand the current body of work in urban science
  • Multidisciplinary breakout brainstorming sessions and synthesis, to identify future R&D, funding, and collaboration opportunities between
  • Transport, buildings and distributed energy resources
  • International group and Building Technologies and Urban Systems
  • Energy Technologies Area, Computational Research Division, Earth and Environmental Sciences Area, and UCB
  • Research, academia, pilot and implementation projects
